Assam Rifles convened a security meeting at Pungro in Kiphire district on Monday to review the prevailing security situation and discuss measures to address a reported threat of bank robbery.

The meeting brought together representatives of Assam Rifles, civil administration, police, State Bank of India (SBI), Village Guards and NGOs to assess the situation and strengthen security preparedness.

Participants emphasised the need for enhanced surveillance, tighter access control and timely sharing of information among all stakeholders. Close coordination between security forces, law enforcement agencies, civil authorities and the local community was also stressed to ensure a prompt response to any emerging threat.

The meeting reaffirmed the collective commitment of the stakeholders to safeguarding the bank and ensuring the safety and security of the local community.
