The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a four-day weather outlook forecasting thunderstorms and rainfall across several districts from September 19 to 22, with a high alert for Mokokchung and Wokha on September 22.
According to the NSDMA, Mokokchung and Wokha are likely to experience thunderstorms/lightning accompanied by moderate to heavy rain on September 22. An alert has also been issued for Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Noklak, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto, where thunderstorms/lightning with light to moderate rain are expected.
Peren and Shamator are forecast to receive thunderstorms/lightning with light rain, while Phek is likely to receive light rain. Overcast conditions are expected in Kiphire and Meluri.
For September 19, thunderstorms/lightning with light rain are forecast in Kohima, Mon, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto. Chümoukedima, Meluri and Niuland are likely to witness thunderstorms/lightning, while Longleng and Mokokchung may receive light rain. Dimapur is expected to remain overcast.

On September 20, thunderstorms/lightning with light to moderate rain are forecast in Kohima, Mon, Noklak, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto, while several other districts are likely to experience thunderstorms/lightning with light rain.
For September 21, thunderstorms/lightning with light rain are expected in Shamator, Tuensang and Zunheboto, while Chümoukedima may experience thunderstorms/lightning. Kohima, Mon, Noklak and Peren are likely to receive light rain, with overcast conditions in several other districts.
The cumulative rainfall outlook for September 19–22 places Mokokchung highest at 61.91 mm, followed by Mon (59.40 mm), Wokha (57.93 mm), Tuensang (56.89 mm), Tseminyu (54.31 mm), Kohima (53.57 mm) and Longleng (52.58 mm). Zunheboto is expected to receive 45.74 mm and Noklak 43.55 mm.
The NSDMA advised the public to regularly monitor weather updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and NSDMA Weather Portal, follow official advisories and exercise caution during thunderstorms and rainfall, particularly on September 22 when moderate to heavy rain is expected in several districts.
