The Little Friends Montessori & Teachers Training Centre (LFM & KTTI), Mokokchung successfully organized a one day Workshop on Dolls & Basket Making on September 26 at its institutional premises.
The workshop was conceptualized with the aim of reviving indigenous craft traditions, fostering creativity, and equipping trainee teachers with hands-on, culturally rooted pedagogical skills for sustainable early childhood education.
The formal session was efficiently led by Arenly Jamir, Teacher Trainer, LFM & KTTI. The programme commenced with an Invocation Prayer pronounced by Imnasenla Imchen, Assistant Professor, Nagaland Bible College (NBC), invoking divine blessings for the success of the endeavour.
In his welcome address, Lima Lemtur, Assistant Professor and Administrator, LFM & KTTI underscored the significance of craft-integrated learning in the Montessori system and its pivotal role in the holistic development of a child.
The Administrator also highlighted the academic courses offered by the institution. He informed the gathering that LFM & KTTI offers comprehensive courses in Montessori Teachers’ Training under Vidyasadi Delhi University, India, available in both Offline and Online modes, thereby providing flexible and accessible professional opportunities for aspiring teachers across the region and beyond.
Greetings were conveyed by Arenlong, Assistant General Secretary, Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) and Mangyang, President, Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (OKM). Both dignitaries commended the Centre for its pioneering initiative in promoting skill-based and value-oriented education.

The workshop address was delivered by S Moa Walling, Dimapur, who eloquently dwelt on the need for preservation of traditional craftsmanship as a viable path towards self-reliance, cultural identity and entrepreneurship.
The technical and hands-on sessions were steered by the distinguished Resource Persons, K Addson Riyang, Assistant Professor, Nagaland Bible College (NBC) and Imlimenla, who imparted intensive practical training on dolls and basket making. The participants were meticulously guided through aspects of material selection, indigenous techniques, innovative designing and finishing, effectively blending traditional wisdom with contemporary aesthetics.
On behalf of the institution, the Administrator expressed profound gratitude to the Department of Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland for sponsoring the workshop and for its continued support towards preservation and promotion of tribal art, skill development and educational empowerment.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic and active participation from teacher trainees and craft enthusiasts.
A total of 75 trainees attended the workshop.
