The Valedictory Ceremony of Hindi Fortnight–2026 was held on September 28 at the Conference Hall, Administrative Building, Nagaland University, Lumami, in a dignified and vibrant atmosphere.
The programme was organised to promote awareness, use and appreciation of Hindi and to strengthen the commitment towards the promotion and also wider use of Hindi as the Official Language in the University.
The ceremony was graced by Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Lumami, as the Chief Guest, while Dr Abemo, Registrar, Nagaland University, attended as the Distinguished Guest. The keynote speaker for the occasion was Prof Somenath Bhattacharjee, Head, Department of Anthropology.
The programme was chaired and conducted by Dr Ashutosh Tripathi, Department of Environmental Science. The event commenced with the Welcome Address delivered by Dr Ashish Kumar, Hindi Officer, followed by the felicitation and welcome of the distinguished guests.
A soulful Poetry Recitation was presented by Lalan Kumar Jha, Hindi Typist. This was followed by the Keynote address by Prof Somenath Bhattacharjee, Head, Department of Anthropology, who highlighted the importance of Hindi and the significance of promoting its wider use in academic and administrative activities.
A song presentation was also organised as part of the ceremony, adding cultural vibrancy to the occasion.

Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor spoke on the importance of Hindi and emphasised the need to encourage its wider use in the academic and administrative functioning of the University. He also stressed the importance of creating a positive and enabling environment for the promotion of Hindi as the Official Language.
An Official Language Pledge was administered by Dr Abemo, Registrar, during which the members present reaffirmed their commitment towards the use, promotion and propagation of Hindi in official work.
A significant highlight of the ceremony was the Prize Distribution Ceremony, during which the winners of various competitions organised as part of Hindi Fortnight–2026 were felicitated. The winners were presented with prizes, certificates and prize money/honorarium in recognition of their outstanding participation and performance in the competitions.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Statutory Officers, Directors, Coordinators, Faculty Members, Administrative Staff, Research Scholars and Students of Nagaland University. Their active participation contributed significantly to the success and meaningful observance of Hindi Fortnight–2026.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Peter Ki, Public Relations Officer, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Distinguished Guest, Keynote Speaker, University Administration, organising team, participants and all members of the University community for their valuable presence and contribution.
