Nagaland Governor, Nand Kishor Yadav visited Tseminyu District and held a meeting with District Officers & Civil Organisation at DC’s Conference Hall, Tseminyu on September 30.
During the meeting, the Governor emphasised that although Tseminyu is a young district administratively, it is not a young Society. He noted that, it is a homeland of the Rengma Nagas with rich history, distinctive cultural traditions with a strong community institution system. He urged the district Officers and Civil Societies to regularly visit the field, interact directly with the people and understand their difficulties.
The Governor encouraged the officers to monitor the implementation of flagship schemes, infrastructure projects and welfare programmes through regular field inspection, wherever possible using technology and digital systems for monitoring.
Emphasising that agriculture and allied activities remain important sources of livelihood for the people, he asserted that Tseminyu has considerable potential in agriculture, horticulture, livestock, poultry and other allied sectors.
He also encourages the district administration and the concerned departments to identify locally suitable products, develop producers’ groups and self-help groups, facilitate processing and packaging and connect them with market within and outside the state of Nagaland.
Urging that education is the foundation of long-term development, the Governor stated that similarly, healthcare must also remain a priority. He therefore stated that primary healthcare institutions should function effectively and essential services should be available to the people particularly in remote and rural areas.
The Governor emphasized the need for electricity, drinking water, roads and digital connectivity as essential to development and stressed for better quality in the district to promote tourism through culture experience and other community initiatives.

Giving a brief overview of the district, DC Tseminyu, Japheth Woch informed that Tseminyu District becomes a district on February 24, 2022 and the district is facing challenges with shortage of Officers, Hospital and Colleges. He also informed the Governor that Tseminyu is declared a Piggery District during a DPDB meeting, and needs urgent requirement of roads and infrastructure development with digital connectivity in the district.
In his short speech, the President of the Rengma Hoho, Gwasinlo Thong appealed for Job Reservation for the Rengma community reservation for job opportunities and the challenges faced by the district without a college, where the students have to move to other districts for studies.
MLA & Chairman DPDB, Ar Jwenga Seb delivered the welcome address, while the program was chaired was by EAC Tseminyu, Molosangla Ozukum, and the program concluded with departmental presentation by KVK, Land Resources, Veterinary & Animals Husbandry, Mission Vatsala and Mission Shakti.
