The State Level Census Coordination Committee (SLCCC) Nagaland, reviewed the progress of Census 2027 and discussed preparations for the upcoming Phase-II activities at a meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Chief Secretary, Nagaland Civil Secretariat Complex, Kohima on September 29.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary and SLCCC Chairman Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS, and brought together senior officials from various departments to take stock of the activities completed during Phase-I and deliberate on the arrangements required for the smooth conduct of Phase-II Census 2027.
Director of Census Operations and Director of Citizen Registration Dr. Keneilhoutuolie Miachieo gave a presentation on the progress of Phase-I and the preparations for Phase-II of Census 2027.
Giving an overview of Phase-I, comprising the House Listing Operations (HLO), Dr. Miachieo informed that the Self-Enumeration exercise was conducted from June 16 to 30, 2026, followed by the House Listing and Housing Census from July 1 to 30, 2026. The House Listing and Housing Census was completed as scheduled and carried out entirely through digital mode, covering a total of 157 charges across the State.
The meeting further reviewed the proposed schedule for Phase-II, which will focus on Population Enumeration. The Self-Enumeration exercise is tentatively scheduled for January 10 to 24, 2027, followed by Population Enumeration from January 25 to February 28, 2027. A Revision Round is proposed to be conducted from March 1 to 5, 2027.

The committee also discussed the proposed training schedules at different levels, including the State Level Conference, Master Trainers, Field Trainers, Technical Assistants, Supervisors and Enumerators. Emphasis was placed on ensuring that personnel involved in the enumeration process are adequately trained and prepared for their respective responsibilities.
Plans for media and publicity were also discussed to ensure wider public awareness and participation in the Census 2027 exercise. The committee further deliberated on the financial requirements needed for the effective implementation of Phase-II activities.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the departments of Home, Finance, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, School Education and SCERT, Rural Development, Land Revenue, Information Technology and Communication, Information and Public Relations, along with officials from the Census Directorate and the Office of the State Coordinator.
The discussions were aimed at ensuring coordinated preparations among the departments and laying the groundwork for the smooth and timely conduct of the Population Enumeration exercise in Nagaland.
