Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Noklak, P Mono Khiamniungan, has informed electors about measures being implemented to facilitate voters during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, in accordance with decisions of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Under the measures, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit the residences of persons issued notices during the SIR for being unmapped or having logical discrepancies. The BLOs will collect the required documents and upload them on ECINet for consideration and decision by the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO).

The administration stated that such electors would not ordinarily be required to appear personally for a hearing. Only in exceptional circumstances, as decided by the ERO, would a hearing be conducted, preferably online through available and convenient communication modes.

Where required, an adult family member may also be authorised by the elector to attend the hearing on their behalf.

To further facilitate electors, EROs and AEROs will establish adequate Help Desks and conduct Special Camps based on requirements during the SIR period.

The administration also clarified that the Declaration Form attached to Form 6 would be used only during the SIR phase. During the non-SIR period, the forms prescribed under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, will be used.
