Advisor Keoshu inaugurates state Jamborette 2026 at Nerhema

Advisor, Youth Resources & Sports and President, State Bharat Scouts & Guides, S Keoshu Yimchunger, inaugurated the State Jamborette Bharat Scouts and Guides as the Special Guest on October 7 at the State Training Centre, Nerhema. The program was held under the State Jamborette theme “Serving community, Preserving Culture”.

Addressing the gathering, the Special Guest said that it is a traditional practice of the Bharat Scouts and Guides to host, “jamborette” for Scouts and Guides to come together to learn, serve, share experiences, build friendships and get a chance to discover new skills, appreciate each another’s cultures, and put the Scout and Guide values into practice. He said the program will enable them to cultivate discipline, leadership, teamwork, self-reliance, respect, service to others and will help them to become responsible citizens by contributing to their communities and the future of the state.

Asserting that Nagaland is known for its rich culture, strong community, and generous spirit, he noted that this movement will bring together shared values of service, friendship, respect, discipline, and responsibility to become thoughtful members of society.

Emphasizing on the importance of co-curricular activities in the education system, Keoshu stated that education should not be confined to textbooks, examinations, and the classroom only. Classroom learning gives us knowledge, while co-curricular activities help us to apply that knowledge, he noted. Therefore, he encouraged the jamborette participants to avail the opportunity to learn outside the classroom as activities under Scouting and Guiding teach cooperation, communication, creativity, leadership, problem-solving, and care for the community. He also encouraged the students across the state to enroll in the Bharat Scouts and Guides, and to actively take part in its programmes.

Keoshu urged the students to practised skills, values and to carry the spirit of service not just for the duration of jamborette, but also in their daily lives by learning from one another and return home with a stronger commitment to the ideals of Scouting and Guiding. He later declared the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides State Jamborette 2026 officially open.,

The Special Guest hoisted the Flag and took the salute from 10 district Parade contingents consisting of Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kiphire, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Shamator, Tuensang Wokha and Zunheboto. He congratulated the State Organising Committee for the successful jamborette 2026, and also felicitated the awardees of the President Scout, 2012-2018 batch from Vidya Bhawan HSS, Dimapur; Chotanu Natso, President Guide awardee from 2018-2021 batch, Chandmari HSS Kohima; and Nosezonu Natso 2018-2021 from Chandmari HSS Kohima.

In her address, the Nagaland State Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Chubanungla, said that State Jamborette 2026 is a historic occasion being held after a gap of 25 years since the last jamborette in 2001. She said during the course of Jamborette, Scouts and Guides will have opportunities to demonstrate their skills and talents through folk songs, folk dances, quizzes, pageants, district exhibitions, district gate displays, food plazas and various friendship and traditional games. They will also get an opportunity to learn from one another, appreciate our diversity and build friendships that can last a lifetime. She added that a jamboree or Jamborette teaches the students which cannot always be learned inside classroom. She extended her appreciation to all the Scouts and Guides for participating in the historic gathering and encouraged them to become a responsible citizen, a compassionate leader and a dedicated servant of the community.

The program culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by Er. Thepfuzakie Angami, State Secretary Bharat Scouts and Guides. The Inaugural programme was attended by the State Council members, State Officials, district Officials, unit leaders, Commandant 17 AR, Tijo Joseph and a Team from Chief Medical Officer, Kohima.
