Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, handed over an extended first-floor classroom facility to Government Primary School, Kevijau Colony, and 40 solar lights to Padum Pukhuri village in Dimapur on Thursday, reinforcing its commitment to supporting community infrastructure and development in Nagaland.
The newly extended classroom facility at Government Primary School, Kevijau Colony, was taken up under the initiative titled “Extension of Class-room 1st Floor for Government Primary School at Kevijau Colony, Dimapur, Nagaland.” The project is aimed at strengthening the school’s infrastructure and providing students with an improved learning environment.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, who attended the programme as Chief Guest, appreciated IOCL for its continued support to the people of Nagaland through various CSR initiatives, particularly in education, healthcare and community infrastructure.
Chang recalled his association with IOCL officials since 2023 and acknowledged the cooperation extended by the people of Kevijau Colony during discussions on local issues. He highlighted IOCL’s wider contribution to Nagaland through CSR interventions undertaken in different parts of the State, including initiatives in the health sector.
Appreciating IOCL as a responsible corporate entity, the Deputy Commissioner said the district administration and people of Dimapur looked forward to continued support from the corporation in education, healthcare and infrastructure. He assured that requirements concerning public welfare would continue to be brought before IOCL for consideration under its CSR initiatives.
Executive Director and State Head, IOAOD SO, Nitin Bhatnagar, who was the Guest of Honour, said IOCL remained committed to undertaking meaningful initiatives for communities in areas where it operates.
Recalling a meeting held around two years ago at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Bhatnagar said the need for development support in Kevijau Colony had been discussed at the time. He said he had assured that IOCL would take up the request and expressed satisfaction that the initiative had now been completed and formally handed over to the community.
Bhatnagar pointed out that Dimapur hosts important IOCL facilities, including its depot and LPG plant, from where petroleum products, diesel and LPG are distributed across Nagaland. Given the corporation’s presence in the State, he said, IOCL also considered it its responsibility as a good corporate citizen to contribute to the welfare of local communities.

He said IOCL readily considers requests received from villages and communities in Dimapur and other parts of Nagaland, subject to its CSR guidelines and priorities. The corporation, he added, undertakes CSR initiatives in sectors including education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and women’s livelihood and empowerment.
Emphasising IOCL’s philosophy of giving back to society, Bhatnagar said the corporation’s operations were sustained with the support and cooperation of the people and it was therefore important to contribute to community development. Reiterating that “Nation First” remained one of the core philosophies of Indian Oil, he appreciated the cooperation extended by the business community, elders, religious leaders, colony representatives and other members of the public.
He also expressed his special association with Nagaland and Dimapur and reaffirmed IOCL’s commitment to supporting developmental initiatives in the State in the days ahead.
The Kevijau Colony programme included a welcome address by the HR-CSR representative of IOAODSO, followed by the formal handing over of the completed classroom facility to the beneficiary institution. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from the beneficiary representative.
IOCL hands over 40 solar lights to Padum Pukhuri

In a separate CSR initiative, IOCL handed over 40 solar lights to Padum Pukhuri village at the Padum Pukhuri Council Hall on Thursday.
Dr Tinojongshi Chang, who attended the programme as Chief Guest, described Padum Pukhuri as one of the best-performing colonies in Dimapur and appreciated its efforts and initiatives for community development.
The Deputy Commissioner encouraged residents to make full use of opportunities available under CSR initiatives. He said IOCL was implementing projects across the country in areas including healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability and rural development.
He urged the colony to identify suitable projects and take advantage of such opportunities for the benefit and development of the community.
Chang also called upon residents to properly maintain the solar lights and ensure that the facilities remained functional for a long period, stressing that proper care and maintenance would help the community derive maximum benefit from the project.
DGM (Operations), IOAODSO, Guwahati, Dipak Pathak, the Guest of Honour, said the solar lighting system installed under the project was valued at around ₹40 lakh and required no major maintenance.
He urged the beneficiaries to take ownership of the assets and ensure their proper care and protection. Pathak said the management and its teams would remain available to support the community with basic needs, social activities and other requirements, and congratulated the beneficiaries on the successful completion of the project.
The programme was chaired by Senior MGR (E), Indian Oil, Dimapur Depot, David Buongui. Chief MGR (HR-CSR), IOAODSO, Guwahati, Malati Malakar, delivered the welcome address, while Chairman of Padum Pukhuri, Aheto Yeputhomi, proposed the vote of thanks.
