The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has renewed its demand for termination of 109 alleged backdoor appointments across 16 departments, expressing dismay over what it termed the State Government’s “lackadaisical approach” to its earlier representation and ultimatum.
In a statement on Thursday, the Federation said it had submitted a representation on April 10, 2025, followed by an ultimatum on March 20, 2026, demanding action against the alleged irregular appointments. It said that despite allowing the government additional time, considering the procedural requirements involved, no decisive action had been taken.
The NSF said it has received a circular convening a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Temporary PIMS on October 12 to discuss the ultimatum. The meeting is scheduled to be attended by the Deputy Chief Minister (Home & Border Affairs), four Cabinet Ministers, two Advisors, the Chief Secretary and the Home Commissioner (P&AR in-charge).
The Federation said the proposed deliberation should uphold the principles of “restoration of meritocracy and transparency” and reiterated its demand for termination of all alleged backdoor appointees.

Appealing to appointees who are aware of irregularities in their appointments, the NSF urged them to exercise “moral responsibility” and voluntarily step down, saying the prolonged continuation of such appointments comes at the cost of thousands of Naga youths awaiting fair opportunities in government employment.
The NSF urged the State Government to take “decisive and immediate action” to ensure that deserving and qualified youths are provided opportunities through fair and open competition.
It warned that if the October 12 meeting fails to address its demands satisfactorily, the Federation would “intensively and extensively” resort to democratic forms of protest.
The NSF also appealed for public support and cooperation in its stated efforts to eradicate what it described as a flawed system and restore fairness, meritocracy and transparency in government recruitment.
