Wokha launched a two-wheeler taxi service on October 9, with 20 riders initially inducted into the service to provide faster and more convenient transportation for the public. As part of the launch, free rides were offered to passengers for the day.
The launching programme was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha as the special guest, along with town council representatives, Additional Deputy Commissioner and taxi riders.
Addressing the riders, the Deputy Commissioner Wokha K Mhathung Tsanglao urged them to provide reliable service, maintain cordial relationships with passengers and adhere to traffic rules, particularly avoiding overspeeding. He also reminded them that the service would serve as a source of livelihood for the riders while helping the public reach their destinations more conveniently.

He noted that, similar to other districts, the introduction of the two-wheeler taxi service in Wokha would benefit both service providers and commuters. He called for cooperation among the riders and advised them to operate within their designated jurisdictions and follow the prescribed rules.
Interim body president Chumben Yanthan stated that the two-wheeler taxi service would initially operate from five designated locations: Police Point, NST, SP Office, Niropen colony and Civil Hospital Wokha.
Passengers can avail the service by contacting the riders by phone or approaching them at or near the designated parking locations. The service providers were also urged to work together, extend mutual support and ensure smooth operations.
The two-wheeler taxi service providers offered free rides to citizens on the day of the launch.
