Dimapur Police rescued a person who was allegedly abducted at gunpoint from Lama Bosti in Khatkhati, Karbi Anglong district of Assam, and apprehended a suspected NSCN (K) cadre during an operation in the early hours of October 8.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime)/PRO, Dimapur, information was received from Assam Police at around 9.30 pm on October 7 that unidentified miscreants had forcibly abducted a person at gunpoint and taken the victim towards Dimapur.
Following the information, a team led by the Officer-in-Charge of East Police Station was mobilised to trace the victim. During the operation, at around 1.30 a.m. on October 8, police apprehended a suspect from the divider of the four-lane highway in the general area of Kuhuboto.
The statement said other alleged abductors fired shots during the apprehension, allowing them to escape under the cover of darkness.

The apprehended suspect was brought to East Police Station for questioning and identified as Kivito Aye, 32, described by police as an SS 2nd Lieutenant of NSCN (K) Nikki. During interrogation, he reportedly disclosed that around six to seven individuals had been involved in the abduction.
Following the questioning, the abducted person was traced and rescued from the Kuhuboto area.
After completion of the necessary formalities, the rescued person and the apprehended suspect were handed over to Assam Police for further investigation.
