Dr Vikuosa Nienu, writing from the United States, paid tribute to late Adinno Phizo, president of the Naga National Council (NNC), describing her as a prominent figure in the Naga political movement and a mentor who had influenced his early life.

Nienu recalled that before assuming leadership of the NNC, Adinno Phizo had served vulnerable communities and taught children in his village when no formal school was available. He described her as his first teacher, saying her patience and guidance had helped him and other children learn to read, think and believe in themselves.

He also recalled that she had accompanied her father into exile as a teenager while facing the dangers surrounding the Naga political struggle.

Nienu said her political legacy and unfinished mission would continue to inspire those committed to the Naga cause. He expressed condolences to her family and friends, praying that Christ’s peace and grace would comfort them during their time of grief.
