Achumbemo Kikon inaugurates SDPDB Conference Hall-Cum-Chairman’s Office, Bhandari

MLA and Advisor, SCERT & Food Processing, and Chairman, SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon Inaugurated the newly constructed Sub Divisional Planning and Developmental Board (SDPDB) Conference Hall-Cum-Chairman’s Office, under State Plan, at the office premises of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhandari on October 9.

Unveiling the Inaugural plaque, Kikon expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr Neiphiu Rio, and Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang for their support for the construction of the three storied building.

Kikon also emphasised that the actual Detailed Project Report (DPR) did not include construction of strong rooms, however, envisaging infrastructural need of the future, additional arrangements were made to facilitate “Secure Strong Rooms” and were constructed as part of the landmark building.

40 A/C Bhandari, with around 27,000 voters, and more than 84 polling stations spreading across far flung areas, and 9 Town Council Wards, have strong grounds to ask the government to give district Election, he added and expressed optimism that People’s aspiration should become reality before long.

Officers and public leaders who spoke in the programme lauded Kikon, stating that Bhandari is witnessing significant developmental change under his People-Centered leadership.

Rev Longshi Lotha, Pastor of Baptist Church Bhandari, dedicated and prayed that the new building may serve as a house of discourse for growth.

In the SDPDB meeting that followed, Advisor & MLA and Chairman, Achumbemo Kikon, welcomed new members and reviewed agendas.

Voicing concern on the lack of Senior Medical Officer, (SMO) for prolonged period, shortage of doctors and nurses at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhandari, Advisor and MLA Kikon urged the public leaders present to pursue the matter with the Chief Medical Officer, (CMO) Wokha, while he also assured to take up the matter through the concerned department.

He also deliberated on the construction of the proposed temporary Jeepable road from Merapani village to Mekirang village along the Foothill Road alignment.

The district administration, Bhandari highlighted that an estimate Committee has been formed and entrusted to visit the proposed stretch and prepare an estimate on the cost of the work.

President, LLRPO Dr Alex Kithan acknowledged that Advisor & MLA has donated ₹.100,000 as part of the crowd funding, and further requested him to provide support for JCBs and dumper Trucks.

The house also acknowledged Chairman of Merapani village council for his commitment to donate 4 large Hume pipes for the proposed construction.

Advisor & MLA, Kikon also urged the agencies and departments concerned to improve road conditions at the Foothill Road, as part of maintenance.

President, Yanmhon Area Public Organization, (YAPO) NThungdemo Tungoe through an undertaking apprised the house that during upgradation and Installation process of 11KV to 33KV of Power supply to 20 affected villages of Yanmhon area, a unified resolution has been made to cooperate with the department for unhindered work execution.

LLRPO President, Dr Alex Kithan highlighted that there are altogether 12 High schools under Bhandari sub-division, but stated that the sub division does not have even one college, and suggested the house to take up the matter to establish a college in Bhandari sub-division for the benifit of the younger generation.

Lead Bank Manager of Wokha, Chophathung Yanthan provided an overview of the current operations, deposits and advances across local banking institutions within wokha district.

On the previous day MLA and Advisor, Kikon also Inaugurated a new road from Community Health Centre to Public Cemetery, Bhandari, constructed under the department of urban development.

He also thanked the public for cooperating with him to complete construction of roads and culverts at the SDEO Office, Tchüpokphen, Züvodung and Meri colonies at Bhandari.
