12th Peren district inter-departmental tournament concludes

The three-day 12th Peren District Inter-Departmental Tournament 2026 concluded at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Jalukie on October 9 with Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Hiazu Meru, gracing the occasion as the special guest.

Addressing the gathering, Hiazu Meru appreciated the participation of government employees from various departments and thanked the organizing committee, headed by ADC, Peren, for successfully conducting the tournament.

Highlighting the spirit of camaraderie, teamwork, healthy competition, sportsmanship and discipline displayed during the tournament, he urged the participants to uphold these values in their professional lives. He called upon government employees to give their best wherever they were posted and emphasized the importance of setting a good example for society through their conduct and dedication to public service.

Expressing concern over the functioning of government offices at the district headquarters, he said he had received complaints from the public regarding the functioning of several offices. He stressed that employees posted at the district headquarters must discharge their duties responsibly and work towards improving public service delivery.

He also called for better coordination among departments, cautioning against working in silos. Reminding the gathering that all government employees represented the Government of Nagaland, he urged them to work collectively, motivate one another and contribute towards the development of the district.

The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the sincere efforts of officers and government employees serving in subdivisions and villages, particularly those involved in implementing government programmes at the grassroots level. He also appreciated the personnel engaged in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and Census Operations, especially those serving in the villages, and encouraged them to continue their dedicated efforts for the successful completion of the exercises.

Concluding his address, he called upon all government employees to work as a team and continue rendering dedicated service to the people of Peren district and the state of Nagaland.

In table tennis women’s singles, Florence (Agriculture) emerged as the winner, while Kengbame (DEF) was the runner-up. In men’s singles, Samlamyising Nampeung (Education) claimed the title, while Jangkholen Hangsing (Education) secured the runner-up position.

In women’s arm wrestling, Shezholu Vero (DEF) emerged as the winner, while Kenzuyile (DEF) was the runner-up. In men’s arm wrestling, Pausuiteing (SERI) claimed the title, while Keyisamrang (Administration) secured the runner-up position.

In carrom women’s doubles, Achilo Ezung and Lhingneilhai Hangsing (CMO) emerged as champions, while Suku and Tingbam (DEF) finished as runners-up. In men’s doubles, Hailamching Ndang and Rosou Zholia (9th IR) won the title, while Shikavi Z Rotokha and Toto A Awomi (Prison) were the runners-up.

In women’s futsal, Social Welfare emerged as champions, while Forest finished as runners-up. In men’s 7-A-side futsal, the Education team led by Lemrai claimed the title, while the DEF team led by Dibam secured the runner-up position.

In badminton women’s singles, Kisamzaile (Social Welfare) emerged as the winner, while Kigwetlungle (Social Welfare) was the runner-up. In women’s doubles, Kisamzaile and Asuni (Social Welfare) claimed the title, while Peheilusile and Ipeupeile (Social Welfare) finished as runners-up.

In men’s singles, Kekungdibo (Social Welfare) emerged as champion, while Kidungyi (DEF) was the runner-up. In men’s doubles, Kidungyi and Tali (DEF) won the title, while Samrang and Hutu (Administration) secured the runner-up position. In mixed doubles, Kekungdibo and Kaka (Social Welfare) emerged as champions, while Chungkhokai and Lhingneithem (Education) finished as runners-up.

In badminton 45-plus men’s doubles, Jacob and Akaho (9th IR) claimed the title, while L Imlinungba LKR and B Lanu (Prison) were the runners-up. In the 45-plus men’s singles category, Jacob (9th IR) emerged as the winner, while Gumhei (Administration) secured the runner-up position.

In the open chess category, Akaho Achumi (9th IR) emerged as champion, while Mengise Haikam (Education) finished as runner-up.

The prizes were given away by DC Peren, ADC Peren and SP Peren.

The closing programme was chaired by SDO, PWD (R&B), Peren, Er Asembe Mbung. A special number was presented by PGT, GHSS, Peren, Keticetpeule, while the closing remarks was delivered by SDO (C), Peren, Sentilong Ozukum.
