The Cüze Rülho Khel Youth Organisation, Nerhema, has strongly condemned the alleged kidnapping, wrongful confinement and sexual assault of a woman travelling from Kohima to Chiephobozou, demanding a time-bound investigation and strict legal action against the accused.
In a statement, the Organisation said the incident allegedly occurred on October 17 at around 1.30 pm, when a private taxi driver, identified as Ruokuotuolie Rijpreo, 28, allegedly failed to stop at the woman’s destination and instead took her towards the Chiechama-Botsa route. The organisation alleged that the woman was confined inside the vehicle and subjected to sexual assault, including an alleged attempt to rape her.
Describing the incident as a serious violation of a woman’s dignity, safety and fundamental rights, the organisation said the case had also raised concerns about passenger safety and public trust in the private taxi service system.
The Organisation expressed solidarity with the survivor and her family, acknowledging her courage in approaching the police and filing a First Information Report (FIR) despite the alleged physical and psychological trauma.

The youth organisation demanded that the accused be booked under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and called for a speedy investigation and trial, with punishment in accordance with the law if the charges are established. It also urged the district administration and the High School Area Private Taxi Union to strengthen driver verification procedures and introduce appropriate safety measures in taxis.
Warning that it would not remain silent if justice was delayed or denied, the organisation said it, along with other frontal organisations of Nerhema village, could be compelled to launch democratic agitation.
It also appealed to civil society organisations, student bodies, women’s organisations and citizens across Nagaland to raise their voices in support of justice and stronger safeguards for women.
The organisation reiterated that the safety of women must be ensured and that the case should be dealt with promptly in accordance with the law.
