MGM College, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Department of Calligraphy, Wandering Minds College of Fine Arts, organised a one-day calligraphy workshop titled “An Introduction to the Art of Lettering” on October 17.

The workshop aimed to promote creativity, artistic expression and experiential learning among students by introducing them to calligraphy as a distinctive and evolving art form. The initiative reflected the college’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to explore their talents, acquire practical skills and broaden their learning experiences beyond the conventional classroom.

The workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of calligraphy and lettering, demonstrating how letters and written words can be transformed into expressions of creativity, beauty and individual artistic style. Through demonstrations and hands-on activities, participants gained exposure to different lettering styles, techniques and the principles underlying the art of calligraphy.

The sessions were conducted by Maongyangla Lemtur, Nivika K Zhimomi and Vizokhotuo Suokhrie from Wandering Minds College of Fine Arts. The resource persons provided practical guidance, demonstrated various lettering techniques and encouraged participants to experiment with their own creative approaches.

Their interactive teaching methods made the workshop engaging and accessible, enabling students to appreciate both the technical and artistic aspects of lettering. Students and interested faculty members of MGM College participated enthusiastically, making the programme an enriching learning experience.
