The Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) on Friday launched its first phase of its agitation by closing down the office of the Executive Engineer (EE), Roads and Bridges (R&B), Noklak, in protest against the department’s failure to address the concerns raised by the Union.

According to the Union, despite submitting a formal request seeking clarification and subsequently serving an ultimatum, the department failed to provide a satisfactory response within the stipulated timeframe.

Expressing serious concern over the department’s continued lack of response, the KSU stated that it was compelled to initiate the first phase of its agitation to draw the department’s attention to the matter and demand accountability. The Union reiterated that the issues raised must be addressed with due seriousness and urgency.

The KSU further cautioned that the department would be held fully responsible for any untoward incident or undesirable situation that may arise in the course of the agitation as a consequence of its continued failure to respond to the Union’s demands.

The KSU maintained that it would continue to pursue the matter until the concerns raised by the Union are addressed appropriately and a satisfactory response is received from the department.
