In a decisive move to clean up the state capital, the District Magistrate, Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has issued a strict order directing the immediate removal of all road encroachments, exposed construction materials, and unhygienic structures across Kohima City.

The official directive, dated October 29, 2026, serves as a final enforcement notice following a previous order (Order No. DCK/REV/MISC-14/2025/428 B) issued on November 27, 2025.

According to the administration, the continued presence of roadside construction materials, poorly maintained toilets and urinals, pigsties, and illegal structures actively compromises road safety, poses severe public health risks, and degrades the city’s environment.

The District Magistrate has warned all concerned parties to dismantle and clear these encroachments immediately. Failure to comply with the directive will result in the unauthorized structures, materials, and vehicles being forcibly removed by competent authorities without any further notice. Furthermore, the entire cost of the clearance operation will be recovered directly from the defaulting parties.
