The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), under its “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” campaign, held a meeting in Mon district to review the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and assess its implementation across the district.
The meeting was attended by AICC Observer Puran Chand Padhi, NPCC Working President Apok Jamir and members of the Mon District Congress Committee (DCC).
Addressing the gathering, Padhi raised concerns over alleged “Vote Chori”, claiming that the SIR exercise could be misused to delete genuine voters from electoral rolls. He alleged that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was overseeing a process through which the names of eligible voters were being removed.
He urged Congress workers to remain vigilant and undertake thorough constituency-level verification of electoral rolls to identify any wrongful deletions. Emphasising that every eligible citizen’s right to vote must be protected, he reiterated the campaign’s message of “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao”.
Speaking at the meeting, Jamir stressed the need for close monitoring of the SIR process and raised concerns over what he described as “Vote Chori” and “Ghati Chor”.
Citing statistics during his address, he claimed that approximately 14 per cent of votes had been deleted across the country and called for vigilance to ensure that no genuine voter was deprived of their democratic right.

Jamir observed that the SIR exercise in Mon had been carried out more systematically than in certain other districts, particularly Dimapur. He stressed the need for proper monitoring and verification throughout Nagaland.
He urged Congress workers to scrutinise the electoral rolls and complete the necessary verification before November 20, 2026, so that discrepancies or wrongful deletions could be identified and brought to the notice of the appropriate authorities. He also called on party workers to remain united, disciplined and committed.
The meeting concluded with an appeal to DCC members and grassroots Congress workers to intensify efforts to protect the voting rights of every eligible citizen. The NPCC reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every eligible voter is duly included in the electoral roll.
