Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School secured the first position at the District Level Youth Parliament and Parliamentary Quiz Competition 2026, organised by the Department of Parliamentary Affairs, Nagaland, at TM Government Higher Secondary School (TMGHSS), Kohima, on November 3.

A total of five teams representing various schools in Kohima district took part in the competition, which aimed at promoting civic awareness, democratic values and greater youth participation in nation-building.

Addressing the introductory session, TMGHSS principal and Kohima district coordinator, Kelhikha Kenye, explained that the competition was designed to familiarise students with India’s parliamentary democracy and constitutional values. He stated that the initiative was conducted at three levels—district, state and national—to strengthen democratic foundations and deepen young people’s understanding of parliamentary institutions.

Kenye also highlighted the importance of instilling discipline, tolerance and respect for parliamentary rules and decorum among students. He said the exercise encouraged participants to listen to differing opinions and appreciate opposing viewpoints, which were essential attributes of a parliamentary democracy.
