Nagaland State Election 2023: Training for polling personnels underway in several districts

Kohima: With the Nagaland assembly elections 2023 barely a month away, several training programmes are underway for polling personnel for the smooth conduct of the election

With the Nagaland assembly elections 2023 barely a month away, several training programmes for polling personnel are underway for the smooth conduct of the election.

Wokha: A three-day training programme for the presiding officers, 1st polling officers, 2nd polling officers, 3rd polling officers, and Grade IV commenced on 30 January at Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DC-DEO) Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, while briefing the polling personnel, reminded them of their roles and responsibilities while performing their assigned task, a DIPR report informed.

He also urged them to attend the training session attentively so that they can do their assignment effectively for the smooth conduct of the election.

Altogether, 252 males and 100 females presiding officers are attending the training programme.

Kohima: In Kohima, a training for civil magistrates and inspectors was held at DC’s conference hall in Kohima on 27 January.

DC and DEO Kohima, Shanavas C IAS welcomed all the members present and called upon the cVIGIL magistrates to be vigilant as it is a time-bound exercise, which needs to be carried out.

Detailed instructions and applications on cVIGIL were highlighted by JG Lorin, Sr. Tech. Director & DIO (NIC) & Nodal Officer (IT), Kohima.

The training was also attended by EAC probationers (2021 Batch).

Zunheboto: The first phase of training for all polling personnel commenced on 30 January at Zunheboto. Presiding officers and 1st polling officers training was held at Town Hall for female officers and Government Higher Secondary School for the male officers.

Pfutsero: In Pfutsero, training for various election teams under 16th Pfutsero Assembly Constituency (AC) was held on 27 January at ADC conference hall.

Jopheth Woch, ADC and returning officer 16th Pfutsero AC, briefed the team on various election processes and advised them to coordinate with one another for smooth functioning while performing their duties.

He also advised the team to be in the station till the election is over.

Kiphire: In connection with the forthcoming election, a training for micro-observers was held at the DC’s conference hall on 27 January. During the programme, EAC Ane Khieya said there are six master trainers for Kiphire district to train officials for the poll.

Master trainer – Gagan Chandra Mishra and Hotingkyu Sangtam – imparted the training, covering theory and practicals.

Meanwhile, on 28 January, a BLOs training for 59 and 60 Assembly Constituency was organised at DC’s conference hall, Kiphire.

Ane Khieya, EAC Kiphire imparted training on postal ballot voting by absentee voters under the category of senior citizens (80+), persons with disabilities, and COVID-19 suspects or affected persons.

Form 12 D, relevant to the above category, was also distributed to the BLOs, DPRO Kiphire informed.

Again on 30 January, a training for presiding officers and 1st polling officers was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Kiphire.

Before the training, a short meeting was held, wherein, DC-DEO Kiphire Wati Aier briefed the polling officials to be sincere in learning the procedures.

Any occurrence of law and order problems during the polls should be reported to the sector magistrate, Aier stated.

Session two training for the presiding officers and 1st polling officers will be conducted on 31 January, whereas training for 2nd and 3rd polling officers has been scheduled for 1 February.
