In a bid to promote the growth of grassroots-level sports under the Op Sadbhavna Project, the Miao Battalion in Zunheboto of HQ 25 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) distributed sports items today in Old Vekuho village, Zunheboto district.

The items included one table tennis table, six balls each for volleyball and football, three football nets, three badminton nets and three sets of goalkeeper gloves.

According to the organisers, with sports being a constructive activity, the initiative to distribute sports items was undertaken with an aim to boost the morale of sportspersons in remote villages and the lack of sports kits would no longer be a hindrance to young talents.

The elders of the village as well as the young sportspersons expressed their gratitude and appreciated the Assam Rifles for their gesture.
