Amit Shah: Reasons cited for ENPO’s call for election boycott valid. NDA Govt will solve all issues.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that the reasons cited for Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation decision to boycott the elections was valid and assured the public in Mon town that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government that will be formed under the leadership of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will work together with ENPO to solve all the issues relating to Eastern Nagaland.

Shah was speaking at a joint public rally of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the nine candidates for nine Assembly Constituencies in Mon district, held at Mon local ground under the theme ‘For a Safe and Developed Nagaland’.

“Whether its related to budgetary provision, whether it is related to increasing the authority of the council of this area, whether it is related to the share of development and equitable development, all these issues will be settled by the BJP-NDPP Government,” Shah said.

“I want to assure all the brothers and sisters of Eastern Nagaland that the Government of India is with you. As mentioned by Rio, every issue raised will be solved very soon,” he added.

Highlighting that Modi government has established settlement of the Bru-Reang issue and in Karbi-Anglong, the Home Minister said that it is aware of all the “sentiments of the Nagas which with due respect, we will find a settlement in the times to come”.

Shah also remarked that in less than 8 years, Modi government has decreased the incidences of violence by 70% in the country and that Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been lifted in 60% of the Northeast area and in Nagaland, AFSPA has been removed in 15 police stations across 7 districts.

Shah mocked the former Congress government stating that while it used to give Rs. 2 lakh crore in 5 years for the development of North east region, Modi has invested Rs.7 lakh crore to develop the infrastructure of the North east.

“After 100 years, Railway Station was established at Shokhuvi connected by the Dhansiri-Shokhuvi railway line to give Nagaland its 2nd railway station. The first station was made by the Britishers, the 2nd by Modi government,” Shah said.

He also informed that BJP Government has approved development of 266km road in 15 national highways at a cost of Rs. 4126 crores and approved 53 infrastructural projects which CM Rio is taking forward.

Pointing various development and accomplishments of the BJP led government in the state, Shah congratulated Rio on the success of providing 2.18 lakh families with tap-water facility under central scheme Jal Jeevan Mission and for providing free of cost medical cover (upto Rs. 5 lakh) for 3 lakh people under Ayushman Bharat scheme.

He said that in Longleng, an Ayurvedic Hospital is under construction at a cost of Rs. 70 crore and under Swatchh Bharat Mission, 1.4 lakh toilets have been completed in Nagaland, under PM Awas Yojna, works have been completed for providing housing to more than 55000 people.

Under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, 2.10 lakh farmers are being given Rs. 6000 though their bank accounts each year, he added.

Union Home Minister further said that three new hydro-projects are under progress along with the greenfield 20MW solar energy project in 120-acre land, while in Doyang Hydro, approval has been accorded for sea-plane water aerodrome project.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, in his address said that the state government will give full cooperation for the development of ENPO area and the long demand of the ENPO will be solved at the earliest after the election.

Exuding his hope for the alliance party to form a new government Rio said, “9 candidates of the alliance party will win and we will make a very strong government”.

“In five years, we have done a lot and we still have lots of things to do and we hope we will be able to achieve and take our people forward” Rio added.

He also mentioned that the state and the country have witnessed tremendous activity and said development is taking place by leaps and bounds under the BJP led Government.
