Wokha: NEEPCO conducts mock drill to enhance emergency preparedness at Doyang Hydro Power Station

Kohima: The purpose of the drill was to simulate a real-life emergency situation and test the readiness and response of the employees, school community, local residents and involved various scenarios such as fire, earthquake etc.

A one-day disaster awareness and mock drill was held at North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), Doyang Hydro Power Station (DHPS) in Wokha, aimed at improving emergency preparedness and response in the event of an actual emergency on 28 March.

The mock drill was organised by NEEPCO, Doyang in collaboration with the department of Home Guards, Civil Defense and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Wokha for the employees of NEEPCO, VKV school teachers and students, CISF jawans, LOU DHEP and for the local populace of DHPS township.

The purpose of the drill was to simulate a real-life emergency situation and test the readiness and response of the employees, school community, local residents and involved various scenarios such as fire, earthquake etc.

During the programme, the District Commandant of Home Guards, Civil Defense and SDRF Wokha, Ngongval E Phom spoke on the advantages of conducting regular mock drill exercises and the various preventive measures to be taken before, during and after the earthquake.

Further, Coy. Commander Lanutemjen spoke on the mock drill and evacuation plan, while Mhonyamo Humtsoe , instructor havildar, demonstrated various types and usage of fire extinguishers.

Altogether, 30 personnel of Home Guards, Civil Defense and SDRF Wokha participated in the mock drill.

Meanwhile, the head of the plant, DHPS NEEPCO, Ch. R John Zeliang expressed gratitude to everyone for their active involvement.
