Government of India representative AK Mishra today held a crucial meeting with the NSCN-IM leadership at the Chümoukedima Police Complex. The meeting was attended by a 24-member delegation of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Isak-Muiva led by NSCN-IM General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah.
The meeting began at 11:00 AM today and concluded by 1:00 PM.
Member of NSCN-IM’s Collective Leadership cum caretaker of Ministry of Kilo (Home) Affairs of the NSCN-IM, Rh Raising said that the meeting was positive, and that they have agreed to seek a solution on the basis of the Framework Agreement.
Meanwhile, sources informed that the flag and constitution issue were at the top of the agenda of the meeting as these two issues have held the talks hostage and the deadlock continued.
Today’s meeting took place after a gap of almost 3 months. The last meeting was held in December 2022 when Th Muivah had flown in chartered flight for the meeting on 25 October 2022.

After concluding the meet with NSCN IM, AK Mishra also met the 7 NNPGs and Niki Sumi at the Chümoukedima Police Complex.
It may be mentioned that in September last year, Home Minister Amit Shah had entrusted the Core Committee on Naga Political issue to intervene and speak to the NSCN-IM to resume talks. Following this, talks resumed in Delhi as a delegation led by NSCN-IM leader VS Atem had met AK Mishra. Not only this, Th Muivah along with senior NSCN leaders were camping in Delhi since 25 October last year and held a series of meetings with Centre’s representative for Naga Talks, AK Mishra.
Sources had also informed that Mishra also held separate meeting with delegation of the Wc/NNPGS led by its convenor N Kitovi Zhimomi in Delhi in December last year. Reports suggested that the Centre was expected to present a ‘common draft’ during the discussions, where both the Naga Political Groups were to study/deliberate on the draft before giving their nod for a common agreement.
