Young Indians (Yi) today held Yi talks at Kindred, Secretariat Road, Beits Plaza under the topic “Finance Basics for Business and professionals” conducted by Kvolu Lorin, Director of Tetso College, Dimapur.
Highlighting on the significance of finance, Lorin said, “True wealth is about how much you save rather than how much you spend” and added that the amount of earning doesn’t matter but how much one saves matter.
Speaking on investment and management of time, Lorin pointed that it is the call of an individual to decide how to spend one’s time and encouraged the audience to invest their time and money wisely.
“When you are older you have less time to recover from your mistakes” he added.
Highlighting on the unpredictability of businesses in the market he said that social media didn’t even exist earlier, but it is dominating today, oil companies were dominating but they have been replaced today. However, you need to invest, make a goal, plan and and act on it, he encouraged.
He lamented that Nagas are unable to maintain a certain standard. He said that when we age we should be able to maintain the same standard but when we reach the retiring stage we start selling off the lands, property and just start surviving on rents.
Stressing on the importance of a proper understanding of value investment and money, Lorin cited the example of hospitals. He said that hospitals made record profits during the pandemic, and they opened more hospitals but there is excess hospitals in some locations now and added “They had so much resources they invested in expansion and now the expansion is hampering.”
“There’s a Smarter and better way,” he added.
