Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) team led by Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka has on Thursday flown one kin from each family of the eight jailed Waris Punjab De members to Dibrugarh, Assam where they are detained in the Central Jail.
SGPC hopes to facilitate a meeting between the family members and Amritpal Singh’s aides who have been jailed for over a month. Singh himself is also in the same jail after he was arrested on 23 April.
The ten pro-Khalistan supporters are detained in Dibrugarh Central Jail under the National Security Act (NSA).
Earlier on April 10, a 3-member lawyers delegation from SGPC led by senior advocate Sialka met the WPD members lodged in the Jail. The lawyers team comprising of Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Mandeep Singh Sidhu (younger brother of Deep Sidhu, the deceased founder of Waris Punjab De) and Rohit Sharma assisted by Senior Advocate from Dibrugarh Samir Kumar Todi met the prisoners at the Dibrugarh jail. Todi has been appointed by the Dibrugarh District Legal Service Authority (DDLSA) as the Legal Aid Counsel for the WDP members kept in Dibrugarh jail.
