An auto driver, identified as Abdul Malik, was killed on spot at 6th mile, Chümoukedima on Thursday after his auto was hit by another vehicle.
A statement from the office of the Commissioner of Police stated that the incident took place at around 11:40 am. On receiving information about the accident, the duty party rushed to the spot and ascertained that a Baleno vehicle had rammed into the back of the Piaggio Auto and the impact pushed the auto to the left side of the road whereupon the auto driver was propelled out of the auto to the left side. The Baleno had also rammed into a footpath railing on the side.
The Police stated that the deceased sustained head injuries above his left ear which led to his immediate death on the spot.

Further it said that the driver of the Baleno and co-passenger, the driver’s wife, were also grievously injured and were rushed to CIHSR Hospital, 4 Mile along with the deceased who was declared to be brought dead.
The deceased auto driver is survived by his two wives and two children aged between 10-12 years.
This incident has been recorded under relevant provision of law at Chümoukedima Traffic Control and is under further enquiry, the Police informed.
