The Rengma Selo Zi, on Thursday, condemned the physical assault on Yhuntilo Kent at Tseminyu Town on 18 April 2023 stating that the ‘horrendous act and the subsequent turn of events have outraged the sentiments of the entire Rengma populace and beyond.’ Kent, it mentioned, was its former info & publicity secretary and a senior leader.
In its statement, RSZ said that the assault, perpetrated by few anti-societal elements, has ‘snowballed into other chain of violence’ in the district which is known as the ‘most peaceful district in the state’.

RSZ further appealed to all its members and concerned citizens ‘to collectively strive towards lasting peace and stability, to bring about a life of dignity and the shared purpose of peaceful coexistence and respectful relationships.’ It also urged for strengthened cooperation in days to come and put in all efforts to uproot anti-social elements and practice.
RSZ also expressed its disappointment at the delay in action from the law enforcement agency and appealed to the concerned authorities for justice.
It may be mentioned that on 18 April 2023, some youths attacked and manhandled Yhuntilo Kent at Tseminyu Town causing serious injuries. The situation thereafter became so intense that on 19 April, Tseminyu Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate imposed Section 144 in the Town area.
