Gracing the ongoing Moatsü Festival at Mokokchung on Tuesday, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said celebration of festival is a time to showcase the distinctive culture and also a time to build and strengthen community bonding, DIPR informed.
Rio maintained that impact of modernization can be felt in every walk of life and there is a need to preserve the unique identity through the traditional customs and practices. Emphasising on the various issues prevalent in the society, he said these issues need to be addressed through collective effort.

On the occasion, the guest of honour, Minister RD & SIRD, Metsübo Jamir in his address called upon the gathering to introspect on all the blessings bestowed upon them through all the natural resources.
Moatsü greetings were shared by President, Chakhesang Public Organization, Vezuhu Keyho; President, Chang Khulie Setshang, Nungsanglemba and President, Sumi Hoho, Nikheto Zhimomi.
Other highlights of the programme included significance of Moatsü by Lanutemsu DB, folk song by Riongsanger Putu Menden, Mokokchung Village, range-wise competition of folk dance, Inter-Ward Tug-of-War competition final match and special Moatsü song by Watsu Mungdang. The programme was chaired by Limalenden Longkumer while the welcome address was delivered by President, Ao Senden, Chubawati Longchar.
