The Naga Students’ Union Dehradun has strongly condemned the violence and unrest in Manipur and has urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and work towards a peaceful resolution of any outstanding issues.
Stating that it is the government’s responsibility to protect its citizens and maintain law and order in the country, the students’ body called on the central government to take urgent action to restore order and stability in the affected areas in Manipur State.
We call for an immediate cessation of violence and for all parties to come to the negotiating table in good faith, it said adding that violence and aggression are never acceptable means of addressing grievances or disputes.
The Naga students extended its solidarity with those affected and stated that it recognize that there may be legitimate concerns that need to be addressed, but such concerns must be addressed through peaceful and constructive means.
