Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, on Saturday, said that he had a conversation with CM of Manipur N Biren Singh and had shared his concerns on the prevailing situation in the neighbouring State.

Rio tweeted that he had also requested Singh ‘to ensure the safety of people from Nagaland presently in Manipur and extend help in evacuating the stranded people as the State has sent transport.’

Meanwhile, the Home Department, Government of Nagaland has also informed that it is actively working to facilitate the evacuation of people from Nagaland who are stuck in Imphal.

The transport arrangements are enroute and are awaiting clearance and security cover from the Government of Manipur and other central security agencies, it added.

The State government, on Thursday, activated Helpline numbers at the Police Headquarter Nagaland and Nagaland State Disaster management Authority (NSDMA). The numbers can be reached for any assistance.

The government also appealed all to have patience and maintain calm.

The Assam Rifles on Saturday also launched Operation Kohima Calling to bring back students from Nagaland who are presently in the violence struck State. AR informed the students will be picked up on Sunday from three pick-up points in the capital Imphal.
