Aasha Malviya, a young traveller, mountaineer, and athlete from Nataram village in Rajgarh District of Madhya Pradesh, who is on a solo cycle mission “Sampoorn Bharat Yatra”, reached Nagaland State Capital Kohima and called on Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Shanavas C, IAS at his office chamber on Monday.

Malviya is paddling to raise awareness towards women’s safety, encourage greater participation of women in the tourism sector, and establish India as a “safe destination for women”.

The cyclist activist also called on Additional Director of Police, Nagaland M Sandeep Tamgadge, IPS at Kohima who wrote in his message, “Ms Asha Malviya is on a noble mission of cycling throughout India to promote women’s safety and empowerment, for generating awareness and consciousness in Indian society in general and women and girls in particular.

On behalf of the people of Nagaland and Nagaland police we wish for her success and glory in life.”

Aasha started her tour on 1 November 2022 on the occasion of Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day from Bhopal. Her “Sampoorn Bharat Yatra” will be completed on 29 September 2023 in New Delhi.

Malviya will be in Nagaland till 16 May and will leave for Manipur and then Mizoram.
