The first programme of the Stress Management Week was held at Mt. Hermon Higher Secondary School on Monday where a total of 246 Students from Class 8, 9, 10 and 12 participated.

Kezhazolie also shared about the different types of stress and physical symptoms of stress to the students.

Emphasizing on the management of stress he said there are three areas that include mind, body and action and mentioned about a few exercises that one can implement including breathing exercises, cognitive reframing, talk to a friend, talk to the therapist.

Anupam Talwar Kohli, a Rogerian Psychotherapist spoke to the teachers about the stages of stress and pointed that stress is a part of life that is experienced by all humans and said, “Most people say stress is bad instead of good, however stress can both be good and bad” adding that stress drives us to do something good, it motivates us to work harder as long as we know how to manage it.

She also mentioned about two ways to take a time out, where one is a healthy ‘mindless me-time’ which includes things to do with pleasurable activities that help you feel completely relaxed and the second is ‘mindful me-time’ including introspection.

During the Stress Management Week, CRIMHSC and Nagaland H&FW department will also be conducting mental health awareness programs at Government Middle School T. Khel, Kohima Village; North Field School; Baptist High; and Police Headquarter.
