The Lotha Eloe Hoho in collaboration with Sakhi One Stop Centre organized a Coordination Meeting Cum Legal Awareness Programme with the Lotha Eloe Hoho, colony representatives, shop owners, sales girls and Lotha Youth Hoho at Lotha Hoho Ki with the aim to spread awareness for the safety of girls and women at work place.
Thungbeni Kikon, case worker and legal consultant, Lotha Eloe Hoho spoke about the prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women at workplace Act 2013. She informed that the Act was enacted to ensure safe working spaces for women and to build enabling working environment that respects women rights in every aspect.
She also mentioned the importance of this Act for safety of the sale girls and women employees in workplace both in government and private sectors. Kikon also highlighted the roles and responsibilities of local complaint committee and internal complaint committees and the importance. She informed that incidences of sexual harassment at workplace must be reported within three months of the last incident.
Kikon further stated that everyone is equal in the eye of the law that anyone found in violation of this Act shall be punished according to the law without bias.
