Kiphire: Alongti, Class 7 delivers speech on ill-effects of tobacco

The Agape Higher Secondary School, Kiphire observed No Tobacco Day along with the rest of the world on 31 May 2023. The programme was initiated by Children’s parliament unit of the school under the theme “We Need Food, Not Tobacco.”

Speaking at the programme, Head Master of the school, Deepak Bahadur Darnal highlighted about the need to eradicate use of tobacco from the society. He however said the mission should start from our home. He also mentioned that the genesis of the programme initiated by WHO in 1987 was to draw global attention to tobacco epidemic and the disease it causes.

On the occasion, students and teachers took pledge to never use or consume any type of tobacco products in their lives. They pledged to motivate all family members, friends and acquaintances not to use any tobacco products and contribute to protection of environment from use of the tobacco products.

Alongti, Class 7 delivered speech on the ill-effects of tobacco as tobacco have disastrous impact on our health. The pupil said that people, nevertheless, consume it daily for a long period of time till it is too late.

“Nearly one billion people around the world consumes tobacco of different types,” he remarked.
