In view of the partial clearance of the landslide debris NH 702, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mokokcung, Thsuvisie Poji has issued a travel advisory on 26 June 2023 that Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) are now allowed to pass through Changtongya to Longleng road from 6 AM to 6 PM with immediate effect.
In a press release through DIPR, the drivers of such vehicles have been advised to exercise utmost caution while passing through the affected area and avoid taking the route at the time of bad weather, foggy conditions and heavy rainfall.
“They are also advised not to halt, stop, park their vehicles in and around the landslide-affected area in order not to risk their and their co-passengers’ lives,” the release stated.
DC Longleng had earlier this month issued a travel advisory after a section of the Changtongya-Longleng road was hit by massive rockslide caused by persistent moderate to heavy showers.
Civil SDO of Changtonya had stated that the road construction company were trying their best to clear the road however the continuous mud slide at the same location was making it difficult to clear the debris.
