SAARTHI- Awareness on Wheels (Mission Parivar Vikas family planning fortnight programme) was flagged off on 8 June 2023 at District Hospital Noklak.

SAARTHI is a fully customised van having interactive communication devices, family planning commodities, education, information, and communication materials and will be operationalised in the high-fertility districts to raise awareness and spread family planning messages.

Speaking on the occasion, Kathyinla, Noklak EAC, stressed on the need to stabilise the growth of population for socio-economic prospectives in the family. She stated that having many children affects the upbringing and also pose problems when it comes to providing quality education. She therefore said that all citizen need to be aware and stabilize the growth of population.

Dr Victor, CMO and Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Noklak informed that SAARTHI is a campaign where the vehicle is equipped with interactive communication equipment to impart the message for family planning to provide family planning commodities to educate and inform.

C Hosea N S Lam, DPM, District Hospital Noklak briefed on the aims of SAARTHI which is to increase sterilization by creating awareness on the usage of condom, injectable contraceptives, pills and to maintain at least two years of gap in child birth to have a healthy baby and healthy mother.

He also informed that SAARTHI- Awareness on Wheels will be operational from 11 July to 24 July and encouraged the general public to avail the free service along with the incentives assured by the government. Lam thanked all the participants fand encouraged to disseminate the message in their own localities.
