The Sümi Hoho organised a Tuluni festival program at Sumi Hoho ki in Zunheboto on Monday, which was attended by all Sümi frontal organisations and departmental heads of Zunheboto district, the media coordinator of Sümi Hoho informed in a press release.

Nikheto Jimomi, President, Sümi Hoho speaking on the significance of Tuluni, said that it is a significant and grand festival for the Sümi tribe that can be traced back to the rich cultural practices of the ancestors. He mentioned that historically, Tuluni was celebrated in the two regions namely, ‘Ghabo’ and ‘Ajo’. However, the days for celebration varied depending on the time interval for the sowing of seeds in the two regions, Jimomi added.
Later, in the year 1966, the Tribal Council resolved to celebrate on the 7th and 8th of July every year.
Sümi Hoho president further stated that Tuluni as it was celebrated since the time inception was a festival of love, joy and abundance, of rekindling relationships and promoting oneness.
“Today, as we celebrate Tuluni, may we continue fostering love, embracing peace and celebrating unity in diversity while also it is our wish and prayer that your life today and always be filled with abundance, joy and blessings,” Jimomi wished.
Earlier, greetings were delivered by Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto and Vishal Chauhan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto on the occasion of Tuluni festival.
The program was chaired by Dr Vihuto Asümi, General Secretary, Sümi Hoho.
