A significant milestone in Mokokchung’s healthcare sector was achieved on Tuesday with the inauguration of the Out Patient Department of Anava Hospital in Settsü village, Mokokchung. The event was filled with heartfelt testimonies and the vision for the hospital’s future. Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba was present among the esteemed dignitaries.
Dr Nadia Jamir, a specialist in Operative Gynaecology & Practitioner, and her husband, Dr. Sungtiakum Jamir, MBBS, DNB (R Surgery), are the founders of Anava Hospital, now serving the community in Mokokchung.
Dr Nadia Jamir, who hails from Switzerland, shared the inspiring journey of establishing the hospital and the profound meaning behind its name “Anava,” which signifies humility and gentleness in Hebrew. Their belief in serving others, combined with a desire to provide top-notch medical facilities similar to those in Switzerland, led them to build this hospital in India.
The Anava Welfare Society in India, supported by the Anava Foundation in Switzerland, stands behind the hospital’s noble cause.
During the ceremony, Temjenmenba applauded the noble venture of the Jamir family and emphasized that the establishment of Anava Hospital is a true act of giving back to society. He expressed the government’s support towards the hospital and its mission to offer the best healthcare services to the people of Mokokchung and neighbouring districts.
The hospital, initially operating with 20 beds and 22 staff members, has a total capacity for 40 beds, aiming to cater to the medical needs of patients with love, care, and patience.
With the OPD now operational, the hospital is all set to expand its services further to include inpatient care, aiming to glorify God’s name with its successful journey in providing quality healthcare to the region.
The inauguration concluded with a dedicatory prayer by Rev Ponen Longchar, Pastor of Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo, followed by the official opening of Anava Hospital by Metongmeren Ao.
The people of Mokokchung district are elated to have access to such a healthcare facility that brings hope and healing to the community.
