Noklak along with the rest of India celebrated the 77th Independence Day on 15 August 2023 at Public Ground Noklak HQ during which MLA P Longon unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from eleven contingents
Longon read out Independence Day Speech during the occasion and thereafter handed over the District Commendation Award to the awardees.

The awardees of Noklak District Commendation Award 2023 on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day are J. Khumong, Project Manager, Targeted Intervention Project Under KBCA, 136/Hav S Thiamo Khimn, Asst RO (E), DEF Noklak; 140/THC Moawapang, 2 i/c of Crime Branch Noklak; Menshei, ANM, District Hospital Noklak; and M Thangsoi, Jugali, (Elect) Power Department Noklak.
The Awardees of Commendation Certificate for Service rendered during Assembly Election 2023 were P Hangthing Khiamniungan, AHM, GHS Noklak Village; L Beyan, PGT, GHSS Noklak; H Lusang, PT, GPS Noklak HQ; Puto Khiamniungan, AFA Noklak; M Suko Khiamniungan, LDA cum Computer Assistant Casual hand; and Pukoi P, LDA cum Computer Asst Casual hand.
The Review of Parade was done by Senior Superintendent of Police, Noklak. The parade contingents were led by Parade Commander Assistant Commandant Tianungba Ao, Parade 2i/c ABSI Ngannyie Phom, Parade CHM Hav K Peshiu Khiamniungan and Flag man and Retreat H Simon.
The Parade Contingents were DEF/3rd NAP, Village Guard Platoon Langnok, Village Guard Platoon Aniashu, ex-Servicemen Pensioner, NCC Cadet, NCC Noklak, Red Cross, GHS Noklak Village, Christian High School, Noklak, Holy Angel School Noklak and St. Paul School Noklak.
A special presentation was performed by Frolic Band.
During the Independence Day program, MLA P Longon also administered the pledge on War on Drugs during the occasion. Later, he inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various departments and Self Help Groups.
To mark the occasion, institutional visits were held at District Hospital, Noklak and Creative Friendship Centre for Children/Adora Children’s Home by various departments.
For the evening program, a Tug-of-War game will be played between All Ward Union versus the Dobashis. An exhibition football match is also planned to be played between District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) versus Khiamniungan Tribal Council.
The 77th Independence Day was also celebrated in different villages under Noklak District.
