The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tening, T. Lemlila Sangtam has issued an order to immediately cease the butchering, purchasing, and selling of pork meat in the vicinity of Tening Town, Peren district in view of the presence of swine flu in the town, DIPR informed.
In the directive the ADC pointed out that despite reports of swine flu in the area, the citizens are continuing with the pork trade, posing a significant health risk to consumers. The Tening ADC therefore notified that the failure to comply with the order would result in an on-the-spot penalty of Rs. 10,000 along with the potential cancellation of trade licenses.
The directive is effective from Monday until further notice.
