Traffic Safety Seminar and Free Medical Camp in Phek Town

In a collaborative effort between the Phek Police and the Medical Department Phek, a Traffic Safety Seminar and Free Medical Camp was organized at the Town Council Hall on October 6  starting at 1 pm.

The event featured an insightful address by SP Phek, Dr. Pritpal Kaur IPS, who delved into various traffic rules and legal procedures. Dr. Kaur advocated against alcohol consumption, mobile phone usage, and other distractions while driving. She emphasized on the importance of being a responsible driver and encouraged attendees to act as good Samaritans during emergencies. The SP also imparted crucial first aid techniques and safety precautions to the audience.

Adding depth to the seminar, Peter Shüya, SDPO Meluri, enlightened the audience about the significance of traffic signs and symbols. He provided examples of exemplary traffic habits observed in different regions and emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic sense. Shuya also elucidated on the Motor Vehicle Act, ensuring the attendees were well-informed.

Simultaneously, a free medical camp was conducted by Dr. Ngopelo Keviechu and his team. Dr. Keviechu demonstrated life-saving techniques such as CPR, ABC, and other first aid methods, emphasizing the importance of prompt and correct response in emergencies.

The event commenced with an invocation and benediction by Pastor Veruyoyi of PBC Phek, setting a positive and inclusive tone for the seminar. Zavekho Vero, ASI DEF Phek, chaired the program.

The seminar drew a diverse audience, including students from GHS School Phek, personnel from the 5th NAP, members of the Phek Police, public leaders, representatives from the Driver’s Union, vehicle owners, the Taxi Union, Phek Town Youth Society, and ANTA members. The enthusiastic participation of these groups led to an impressive turnout, with nearly 250 individuals in attendance.

The collaborative initiative proved to be an informative and empowering experience for the community, promoting road safety awareness and equipping attendees with essential life-saving skills.
