“It is high time that Nagas transition the from the perspective of a singular focus on government employment to a more diversified approach that encompasses the private sector and entrepreneurial ventures,” asserted Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor, Agriculture Department during the inaugural of the Multipurpose Hall at Sanis ‘O’ Point, Wokha. The event was held on October 25 with Yanthan as the Special Guest.
While government jobs has its own merits and has long been considered a pathway to success, Yanthan opined that the tendency to view them as the sole route to prosperity may inadvertently contribute to the pressing issue of unemployment in Nagaland, given the fact that government job has reached saturation point.

Yanthan further underscored the value of both government and private sector employment as well as entrepreneurship, and reaffirmed his commitment to promote a diverse range of employment avenues.
Yanthan, in his speech, also emphasized the purpose of Project GoEmploy which aims to provide employment and career-related targeting the youths of his Constituency and to facilitate opportunities for the unemployed, focusing mainly on addressing the substantial skill gap that many individuals face.
According to Yanthan, the project was his political commitment during his second stint as the people’s representative. “This initiative is designed to empower the unemployed by imparting essential skills and equipping them for future opportunities. As part of our efforts, we conducted a comprehensive survey to create data base of the youth and as part of interest mapping, it has garnered a remarkable response and this proves to show their eagerness and enthusiasm,” stated Yanthan.
The Advisor reminded that the project is not a formal government initiative but it is basically to encourage the youth to consider a broader spectrum of career paths.
