Sonkük Laang FC, Noksen HQ, defended its title at the 31st edition of Loyem Memorial Trophy on Saturday after defeating Nyaklangbou Sector Youth Fellowship in the finals in front of a full-house at Loyem Astro Turf Ground, Tuensang.
Both teams were cheered by the spectators on the galleries but ultimately, the confidence of Sonkük Laang FC overpowered Nyaklangbou Sector Youth Fellowship and SLFC won 5-0.
Both the teams maintained good sportsmanship spirit till the final whistle of the tournament was blown, crowning SLFC champion of Loyem Memorial Trophy 2023 for the second consecutive year.

Sonkük Laang FC took the title with trophy, medal and cash prize of Rs 2,20,000. Runner Up Nyaklangbou Sector Youth Fellowship received medals and cash prize of Rs 1,20,000.

The 31st Edition Loyem Memorial Football Tournament was organised by Chang Wedoshi Setshang in collaboration with Chang Sports Association. The closing ceremony was graced by Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, as the Special Guest.
In her address, Rutsa exhorted the gathering by saying that the tournament was organised with an objective under the theme “Soar High on Sports Rather Than Drugs” which is much needed in Tuensang District. She appreciated the organisers for the message and for providing a platform for all the young football players.
The DC encouraged the players to focus on their skills and talent and further stated that it is a vision of the district to strengthen physical and mental fitness through sports and to eradicate the practice of using unwanted substance among the youngsters.
Rutsa emphasized that in sports, there are winners and losers but losing with dignity and playing with true sportsmanship is just as important as winning.
