96.25% voter turnout in 43 Tapi bye-election

Mon: CAPF, Nagaland Police and IRB were deployed to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections

The bye-election for 43 Tapi (ST) Assembly Constituency in Mon district was held on Tuesday with 96.25% voter turnout ration, the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland informed. Vyasan R, IAS, also declared the polling was incident-free and peaceful.

Voting took place in 23 polling stations where electors voted for either Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party’s Wangpang Konyak or Indian National Congress’ Wanglem Konyak.

The total number of eligible voters in 43 Tapi is 15,256.

Polling began at 7:00 am on Tuesday and closed at 4:00 pm. CAPF, Nagaland Police and IRB were deployed to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections. The counting of votes is scheduled to take place on 3rd December.

A vacancy was created in the 43 Tapi seat after the death of its MLA and Advisor to the Social Welfare Department, Late Noke Wangnao in late August.
