Elite Cricket Club wins KDCA Inter Club T20 Tournament by 109 runs

The Elite Cricket Club won the Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA) Inter Club T20 Tournament by 109 runs on Monday, November 27. ECC defeated the Missionshire Cricket Club during the final match held at the NCA Cricket Stadium In Sovima.

Elite C.C. won the toss and elected to bat where it scored 156/9 in 20 overs. Zipa Pohena scored 42 runs and Imomemba scored 40 runs for Elite CC while Sahidul Alam took 3 wickets and Aktar Khan took 2 wickets for Missionshire CC.

The Elite CC bowlers bowled out Missionshire for just 47/10 in 13 overs. Kevilelie Khesoh top scored with 16 runs. Meanwhile, Vikato took 4 wickets while Sepichem and Kelhousilie took 3 wickets each, for Elite CC. Vikato was awarded the Man of the match for taking 4 wickets.

Runners up – Missionshire Cricket Club

The Kohima District Cricket Association  conducted the tournament of this level after a span of many years. The T20 tournament 2023 was held at Jakhama Village Ground, Jakhama from November 21.

A total of eight invited teams participated in the tournament namely: Elite Cricket Club, Missionshire Cricket Club, Pfuchatsumia Eagles, Brotherhood Team, Tsütuonuomia Knights, Lhisemia Thinuo, Dapfhütsumia Cricket Club, Kohima Hornbills. Among the 8 invited teams, four are KDCA registered clubs viz Elite CC, Brotherhood CC, Missionshire CC and Kohima Hornbills. And the other four teams were the teams from the four Khels under Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA).

The tournament was played on Knockout basis with the quarterfinals and semifinal played from November 21 to 23 at Jakhama village ground and the final match played at NCA cricket stadium, Sovima on November 27. A total of seven matches were played where 120 players participated, where the total runs scored was 1907, Total wickets- 103, Fifties -4 including one Century achieved. According to the Tournament Organizing Committee, all the officials i.e. the umpires, the official scorers both manual and online are trained under Nagaland cricket association.

For the first time in Kohima district, cricket live score updates were done online on CricHeroes App with more than 6000 views. A three days coaching camp for Sub junior boys and girls was also conducted during the course of the tournament. A total of 6 girls and 3 boys attended the camp. Trained coaches Keviselhou Sekhose and Vikato conducted the coaching camp.
