The final match of Chümoukedima’s Invitational Inter-ward and Village Futsal Tournament (5 a side) was played between Ward 2 and Ward 9, with the latter securing the title as the champions. The tournament was organised by Chümoukedima District Football Association which culminated on December 13 at the JJ Arena.
Addressing the gathering as the special guest at the closing ceremony, Matthew Yhome, President, Kohima District Football Association, spoke on the need to moulding the present generation and cohesively working together for the State.
Sharing his experience as a football player and Nagas’ love for football, Yhome urged CDFA to continue in its pursuit to promote and strengthen sports. To the players, he encouraged them to be disciplined, respect elders and each other. With many talented sportsperson losing their career to substance abuse, Yhome appealed the players to avoid alcohol. “Those who are disciplined will go a long way,” said Yhome.

The Special Guest also highlighted the need to focus on one profession instead of meddling in various trades where players fail to master one specific discipline. This is one reason, cited Yhome, why Nagas are not in National level “because we are not masters of our profession”.
Yhome also expressed appreciation that the State government has declared Chümoukedima as a sports and education district. “Today Chümoukedima belongs to all the 16 tribes,” said Yhome urging for continuation of peace and harmony.
