Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will grace the 50th Anniversary celebration of Phek district on December 21 at Phek town under the theme ‘Transcending in truth.’

The inaugural function will start from 10:30 AM onwards. Short speeches will be delivered by Pochury Hoho President, Chonpa Jurry, Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) President, Veziihii Keyho, MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero, New & Renewable Energy and NSDMA advisor Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe and CAWD & Taxes advisor Kudecho Khamo.

Programme committee convenor and MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu will deliver welcome address while Power & Parliamentary Affairs Minister KG Kenye will propose the vote of thanks at the formal programme.

The programme will be chaired by Phek Deputy Commissioner Kuko Mero. Chakhesang Mother’s Association president Zhonelu Tunyi will chair the unveiling programme of 50th anniversary monolith while act of blessing will be pronounced by Rev Ziipelhi Mero.

Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o, executive secretary Chakhesang Baptist Church Council will invoke God’s blessings at the inaugural function while Rev. Riimatho Nyusou, Executive Secretary, Pochury Baptist Church Council will pronounce Thanksgiving Prayer. The celebration will also be marked by cultural exhibition, anniversary feast, fireworks and anniversary fusion.

In this regard, the Phek DC Kuko Mero has requested all the HoDs under Phek district to attend the celebration. Attendance will be compulsorily taken on the date of the event, DC stated in a circular.

The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) has also extended invitation to the entire community to join the celebration. The CPO made a fervent appeal to all individuals, groups, and organizations to cooperate and participate wholeheartedly in making this celebration a grand success.

Phek district was inaugurated by the then transport minister N. Theyo on December 21, 1973.
